Every year, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (Commission) gathers for its annual two-day workshop to discuss transportation goals and funding priorities. This year, a facilitated interactive discussion entitled "Where Do we Go from Here" served as the primary topic for the second day of the workshop. The goal of the facilitated discussion was to help establish the Commission's general direction for the next several years. The facilitated discussion included five distinct aspects of the quality of life in Riverside County: political, economic, social, innovation, and environmental. Following the workshop, a Request for Proposal (RFP) was released for Strategic Assessment Services to develop a strategic assessment of countywide transportation plans. The goal of the work to be performed is to assess existing plans, funding capacity, public opinion, and priorities in order to develop a foundation for future decision making. A copy of the RFP is available: here

It is anticipated the results of the strategic assessment will be the topic of the Commission's 2016 workshop.

The 2015 grant cycle for the Active Transportation Program (ATP) is just two short months away. The $359 million call for projects is scheduled for March 26, with an application deadline of May 31. The ATP is a statewide grant program created by Senate Bill 99 to encourage active modes of transportation, such as bicycling and walking, in an effort to improve public health and reduce greenhouse gases.
